Hans Tobler’s first marriage was to a Barbel, who bore him the children David (before 1582), Elsbeth in 1587 and Verena in 1589. The second marriage to Verena Mettler is not recorded in the marriage register; however, the woman appears several times as godmother and gives birth to a daughter Salome in 1598. In 1613, Marx Schulthaiß donated a valuable illustrated collection of minstrels without melodies, the “Weingartner Liederhandschrift” (ca. 1310/20), to the Benedictine Abbey of Weingarten. Shadrach – this name was given to Hananiah in Babylon. He was one of the three faithful who refused to worship the golden image of Nebuchadnezzar. They were then thrown into the fiery furnace and miraculously saved (Old Testament, Book of Daniel 1:7; 2:49; 3:12-30).
