and reports on the tithe dispute between the brothers Schidelin, Tharand, and Johannes from Staufenberg in the Vallis Lutebach with the Gengenbach Abbey. The reason for the quarrel was the possession of what is today the Zinken Lautenbach. The somewhat indistinct heading caused the certificate to be the first official mention of Durbach.

The board next to it shows an excerpt of an old script which states that Bishop Otto von Bamberg (1103 to 1139) donated Heinbur, the local district area Heimburg, as it can be seen on the map across the wall, to the Gengenbach Abbey. It can be assumed that this most densely populated area of Durbach existed before 1139 (around 1100) since subsequent certificates repeatedly mention Heimburg, Meierhof, vines, and people. An actual birth certificate for this period does not exist. A certificate by Pope Nicholas IV from October 4, 1289, which mentions Durbach, is also one of the oldest pieces of evidence for the settlement of this valley.
